Stacking It Up!

For my very few readers, sorry for the lack of posts! I am so busy and overwhelmed with life that I have little time for myself. Blogging is something I enjoy doing during my free time. Well, my free time has been very limited lately.

For those who come to my home, know that it is always in a constant state of rotation, decoratively speaking. I love stacking my accent pieces when creating a vignette. I probably change up my dry sink once a week. My most recent creation looks like this:

I just really like these photos below.

Happy Getaway

We headed down to the lake to visit with GrandMary, Aunt Tara and cousins Rachel, Eli, and Wyatt. It was a great little trip filled with constant commotion. This is another long blog post filled with mainly pictures from our adventures at Lake Anna.

Cottage Garden

Each spring, I dream of creating an English Garden. I have attempted to create one many a times. Unfortunately my house faces due west, so by late July-early August my flowers usually fade. Of course I am going to try again this year. I love the controlled chaos of an English Garden. Maybe it is my fascination with all things English. From Masterpiece Theatre, Kate Winslett's cottage in The Holiday, Pride and Prejudice, and British shelter magazines, I am obsessed. I love to look up castles on the internet. Oh, and lets not forget The Tudors. Maybe I need to just take a trip England! Sometimes I wish I could be like Gwyneth Paltrow, the perfect American transplant.

Virginia Bluebells

The Virginia Bluebells are out in full force. I feel so fortunate to have my house back up to Bull Run where there is an abundance of these flowers!

Dominic, Nursery, and More!

Dominic's is one lucky baby to have such a beautiful nursery. My sister was fortunate enough to know someone who paints murals. We always knew that the theme would be owls. Carrie mixed traditional with modern in the nursery. The dresser was our grandmother's which Geovanni painted. The crib and lamp are new. Carrie is ordering a Dash & Albert rug for the floor. We just hope Dominic gets a chance to sleep in the nursery!

Our sweet baby (I mean Carrie's).

Check out the dimples!

Baby Boy!

April 6th 2010, Dominic Geovanni entered our lives. He is a true miracle!

Jackson had the sweetest, most loving reaction to Dominic. It broke our hearts, in a good way!

We had to watch out for Jeremy!

Johanna reacted unexpectedly to Dominic. She did not want to hold him and she wanted me to hold her.

*The most important person other than Dominic is missing from this post, Ethan! As soon as I have pictures of the new brother I will share them.

Sprucing Up The Porch

We live on our screened in porch once the weather warms up. Every year I try to figure out ways to make it look pretty and still be kid friendly. I am in love with the picture below from Southern Living. If my porch could look like that, I would be so happy. I love the thought of lamps on the porch to make it more of a room rather than an outdoor space. We have a dining room table on our porch. It is in desperate need of new chairs. I would love the ones from Sundance, but at $595 for two, I don't think it is going to happen. The chairs I found at Kohl's are $95 apiece. I also need a new outdoor rug. The one I put on the porch is from the playroom and it is already destroyed from the dirt. I definitely need an outdoor specific rug. My fern lady at the Farmer's Market will hopefully be ready for me on Thursday. She has the most beautiful ferns at only $15 a pop. So much to do, with good intentions! I just need to pace myself.
