Christmas Wishes

Merry Christmas to my friends and family who read my blog (all ten of you). It is Christmas Eve and I think I am ready. My kids are happy and healthy, and watching Spongebob Christmas as I am writing. I can't wait to see their sweet little faces when they wake up and see their presents from Santa. As usual, we went overboard. We set a limit on the amount of gifts every year but it always triples. Jason can't help buying for the kids. He is a generous man, just like his father (more on that later). He also said I could get a new couch for Christmas!!! I am so excited. On Christmas Eve each year, Jason takes the kids to the Manassas Antique Mall to pick me out presents. I love what they get me and I display them prominently in my home.

Thank you to my parents and brother for always helping me out with the kids. I appreciate all you do to help me. Jackson, Johanna, and Jeremy love being at your house as if it was their own. I do not know how I could survive without you! Carrie, I cannot wait for you to move into my neighborhood! How much closer can this family get? Our poor husbands!! I love Ethan as if he were my own!!! I cannot ask for a more wonderful mother-in-law! I got dealt the lucky hand in the in-law department! Rick and MaryEllen made me feel part of the family from day one, which was the ripe old age of sixteen. To my dear friends, you make my life seem normal. I love talking to you and realizing that parenting is the hardest job in the world and that I am not alone (Jackie and Carolyn).

I could go on forever but my kids and husband are calling!! Breakfast is what they are asking for.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! I love you all!

Jason borrowed a bobcat to remove snow for the sweet lady who lives behind us in a pipestem. She has a long driveway that leads to her house in the woods. The snow plows piled up a mountain of snow at the top of her driveway. She hired a snowplow driver to clear her driveway but he got stuck and bailed when he got out. Jason is truly a generous man and for that I am most thankful for this Christmas.

Thank you for being a part of my life for sixteen years! Not long enough but I will cherish every moment. I love you.

All I Want For Christmas...

There are only couple things I want for Christmas, nothing I need though. The main thing I asked for was that my dining room chairs be 100% done. Hubby said that was not going to happen. Other things I desire are as follows:

A mantel for my living room. I would love an actual working fireplace but would settle for a mantel. The decorator in me wants one for design purposes.

A moira clock from Sweden. I think they are absolutely beautiful.
This rug from Ballard for my dining room. Basically I need a rug for my poor 10-year old lab who is having a hard time on the hardwood floors.

Decorating With Moss

Recently I have been on a moss kick. Maybe because I am switching things up a bit in my living room and adding more green. I love the use of natural elements also. Moss falls into that category quite well. When I was in Pottery Barn the other day there was an entire moss display. They had various sizes of moss balls, wreaths, and topiaries. They were rather pretty and looked very real. My husband thinks that my moss balls are silly but I love them!

Sweet Decorations

Back in October I saw these pictures at Decor8 and fell in love with them. I thought they looked so sweet and peaceful. I hung onto them as inspiration for the Christmas season. Sadly, I have not been too motivated to decorate this holiday season. All of the sudden I am getting the bug to decorate more. Better late than never!

Wreaths of Colonial Williamsburg

Here is a sampling of some of the wreaths seen on the doors in Colonial Williamsburg. Every door and most windows had wreaths placed on them. All the wreaths were made out of real, natural elements such as fruit or dried flowers. One even had baked cookies on it. They were all beautiful and we had fun admiring them!

Owl Baby

I am so excited for my sister Carrie, who is pregnant with her second child. She is due in April and has just purchased her first house. I am pretty certain she will ask me to help with the baby room. So far I am thinking Owls. I don't know if she has this in mind but, if I were to have another child, I would definitely use Owls as my main design element. I am just having fun playing around with different ideas and hoping she likes one of them!
Fun wall art
Cotton Dash & Albert rug will look awesome on top of hardwood floors!
I love the look of a Jenny Lind crib. I think they are so classic!
