A Few Changes

I decided to update my living room recently. It felt too light in color so I took the leather chair from the playroom and put in where the wing chair used to be. I moved the wing chair next to my armoire. I also updated my armoire for the fall. I also plan to make a few more changes to the color scheme. Pink is still on my brain. I have purchased all the fabric, I just need my Mom's help with making the pillows!

Accessorizing

My favorite thing to do around the house is to rearrange my home accents. I probably rotate my accessories on a daily basis. Changing out my summer items for fall accents is what I am working on now. Lonny's new blog has great archive photos. The photos below represent the style I like when it comes to accessorizing.

Small House

September's Canadian House and Home made me so happy! It featured small spaces. The article pictured below resonated with me because it showed how a small home can be a happy and beautiful place. That is how I feel about my house; most of the time!

Charleston

I went to Charleston thinking that I would stroll through the side streets of the Battery admiring houses and shop all the antique shops on King Street. I had about twenty minutes to look at houses while Jeremy slept in the car and I only drove down King Street. I actually came home with nothing for myself. Although I did not get any physical momentos of my trip, the memories with my family and best friends are priceless. We had the most amazing trip. I am thankful for the quality time with my family, especially after the crazy and random summer we have had.

The few random photos I took of houses on the Battery. Jeremy was sleeping in the car with Jason and Johanna and Jackson were following me around very bored.

So Inspired

I love everything about the series of photos shown below from FullHouse. I am so inspired by the photos and cannot wait to actually call myself a decorator!

Furbish

Now I want this bedding from the FurbishStudioOnline store. Too bad it is almost three times as much as the other duvet set. I love everything at this online store. All the blogs are writing about it. Here are a few other items on my wish list:

I would get my wing chair reupholstered in this Chaing Mai fabric.

New Bedding

I am going against my level of comfort and ordering this bedding. Normally I go for more simple bedding, but I am intrigued by this duvet. I decided to be daring and order it. I think it will look good with my wall color and lamp. I hope it works out!

Dorm Crush

It has been ten years since I graduated from VA Tech and I never lived in a dorm, but, I think this dorm room is pretty darn cool. I would live in it now! I get nostalgic every year at this time, thinking about all the college kids packing up and heading back to school. I will openly admit that college was the absolute best time of my life. I would go back to college in a heartbeat. My niece will be a freshman at VCU this fall. How neat would it be if I could decorate her dorm room!

The Future

Today I will start carving out a little corner in my house all for my own. A small corner in my playroom will soon be where I will set up my own desk. This fall, I will be pursuing a degree in interior design. I have wanted to do this for years but have not had the time due to my three young children. Now that two of my kids will be in school full time, I think the time is right. I am excited and hopeful I will have my own business in the near future! Of course I can't stop thinking what my little corner will look like.
Love the look of this set-up! I only wish I had the space.
May have to get this Parson's desk from WEST ELM.
An EAMES chair would be my dream! Probably not in the budget though.

Federalist Mirror

I snatched this mirror out of my parents laundry room. It was hung behind their hot water heater, collecting dust. I decided to spray paint it antique gold. It turned out great except for the fact that I cracked the convex mirror when I was putting it back together. I was pretty bummed about my mistake. I plan on getting a new mirror for it this week. The mirror looks perfect in my dining room. Thanks again Dad for letting me steal from your house!

Pink Please

I have been so enthralled with Tia Zoldan's living room below that I now want to incorporate pink into my living room. I look at pictures of this room several times a day, wondering how I can incorporate pink with a limited budget. I think I will start with pillows made from pink chevron fabric. I may also make a new cover for my upholstered coffee table. If I could scrape some money together I would get a new slipcover made for my wingback chair. There are so many ways to use pink, evident by all the beautiful interiors below.

More Inspiration

I really love these pictures from emmaclements.com. What caught my attention was the use of neutral colors and natural elements, such as the antlers, turtle shells and twigs. I also like the mini globes. I know what I will be collecting next! I think what appeals to me is the controlled clutter of her decorating. She uses a lot of different accent pieces but they work well together. The coolest part about this interior is that she is living in her parents home while she starts up her design business. Her parents gave her the downstairs dining room and study as her own living space. She has full reign when it comes to decorating these spaces.
Maybe it is because she lives in such a small space that her home and decor reminds me of my own.
I LOVE her inspiration board!!!!

A few photos of beautifully styled pieces of furniture. I am now motivated to redo my Swedish hutch in my living room!

One Photo Says It All

If I could sum up my decorating style in one photo, it would be with this one from modGIRL. I love to layer my accessories just like this photo. I also have a similar Swedish cabinet in my living room that I LOVE more than any other piece of furniture in my home.

Our Weekend!

We started our weekend with a trip to the Farmer's Market. It was 9:30 and already 95 degrees. It did not take long for the kids to get a little cranky! They were troopers though.
Train station in Old Towne
Jackson saying "are you done yet?" for the 100th time!
Johanna, always ready to pose!
Not an easy shot!
Jeremy is not into his hug from Johanna.
Running through the pavilion.
Playing on the trains.

Hitting the road!
Jeremy has decided to be like the big kids and swing from the tree!
The boys are taking a break from building the bunny "compound".
Jeremy decided to bring Jason a beer while working on the bunny house. Although thankful, Jason informed Jeremy that he does not drink Mommy's "sissy" beer!
Last, but not least, we picked up our newest bunny, Spark. She joins Johanna's bunny, Ovi.
